From a Safe Schools Coalition Australia (SSCA) spokesperson
Since it was first federally funded in 2013 the Safe Schools Coalition Australia (SSCA) program has been rolled out nationally to aid school management and teachers in building safe, supportive and inclusive school environments by setting a baseline of understanding about the matters impacting on Lesbian Gay Bixsexual Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) students.
The SSCA program will cease today (June 30) in New South Wales and South Australia.
The achievements of the SSCA have been made possible through the unique contribution of many expert organisations and individuals across the country.
The partner organisations share a joint commitment to supporting same sex attracted, intersex and gender diverse students, staff and families to feel safe and happy at school.
So far, nationally, SSCA has trained more than 17,000 educators across the country. We look forward to continuing to provide professional development and resources for educators in collaboration with partners in WA, QLD, NT and TAS until October 2017.
We thank our NSW and SA state partners for their contributions to SSCA and building the capacity and knowledge of our school principals, teachers and support staff.
