International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHOT) is about showing your support for same sex attracted, intersex and gender diverse students, teachers and families right across Australia — and the world.
This IDAHOT we’re encouraging everyone to #bebetter allies to same sex attracted, intersex and gender diverse students all over Australia.
Check out our new poster here and get involved!
Ideas for how your school can mark the day include:
- Encourage everyone to wear the same colour:
Take a stand against transphobia and homophobia by encouraging everyone at school to wear one colour for a day.
Students can donate a gold coin to raise funds for LGBTI+ charities or for your new or existing school diversity group.
- Run an IDAHOT event at your school
Run an event, like a BBQ, lunchtime concert or assembly. This can include students making a public pledge to #bebetter allies. Let as many people as possible know why challenging homophobia and transphobia is so important.
- Run a project for your school to #bebetter
Get students together to talk about what to do to make your school #bebetter in the coming year.
- #bebetter and share your photos online
Share your photos on the day using the hashtags #bebetter and/or #idahot and show the world that Australia stands out to support same sex attracted, intersex and gender diverse students and staff.
